​The purpose of Historic Richmond Association is to support Historic Richmond’s businesses and the Richmond community through preservation, community improvement and the promotion of our city through educational, civic and cultural events and programs. 

For decades, the Historic Richmond Association has existed for one purpose: to support and serve the Richmond community. Our volunteers have given hundreds of hours without compensation to create events, promote local businesses, preserve traditions, and bring thousands of visitors to Historic Richmond. In recent years, the support necessary to continue that mission from Historic Richmond businesses, community partners, and local government has significantly diminished, while Historic Richmond Association has increasingly found itself struggling simply for the opportunity to serve. An organization created to support its community cannot successfully fulfill its mission without the support and cooperation of that community. For that reason, Historic Richmond Association has made the difficult decision to responsibly dissolve at the end of 2026 and open the door to whatever comes next.
